about Gustavo

Gustavo Sousa is an executive creative director with 20 years of experience. He is the owner of 132 studio, a boutique creative studio that works with clients such as Budweiser, Hoegaarden, Oculus and more recently Facebook’s cryptocurrency project Libra.

Gustavo is also a co-founder of F!ve Drinks Co, a new high-end, ready-to-drink cocktail venture soon to be distributed nationally, and a member of the Global Creative Board of Anheuser-Busch Inbev as a creative consultant.

His commercial and personal work has been recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, FWA and has been written about by The Washington Post, NPR, Fastcompany, Vice, Gizmodo and Fubiz.

Gustavo is a former global ECD and partner at mother, spending 10 years based in London, and 2 years in New York.

At mother, Gustavo worked across all the agencies’s main clients having a key role and leading new business wins, including the global Stella Artois creative account, being the brand’s global ECD from 2008-2015, a period in which the brand grew to become the 4th most valuable beer brand in the world, creating a diverse body of work ranging from Film, Digital, Branded Content and Immersive Theatre Experiences, commissioning and working with talent such as legendary photographer Bert Stern, Annie Leibovitz, illustrator Robert McGinnis, Directors Wim Wenders, Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, Patrick Daughters, Fredrick Bond, Noam Murro, Ringan Ledwidge, Brian Buckley, legendary titles designer Pablo Ferro , Immersive Theatre company Punch Drunk (Sleep no More), Marina and the Diamonds and Florence and the Machine.

Gustavo is also a painter, living in New York with his family in West Village, NYC.
